Resin-based chair
The Vine Chair by Clear, crafted from vines and resin, has a classic shape and would be at home both indoors or out. The materials in the Vine Chair also remind us a bit of the Alikudi chair by Aitali.
Thanks, Arlene!

somewhere between "organic" and "tech"

Schooled in both modern and traditional illustration techniques Sean Griffin has strung together an impressive body of work in a short period of time.
Working under Griffin One, Sean has given potential clients a wealth of options from murals to T-shirts with his style that can be described as both aggressive and inviting.
I believe that every project demands it's own level of respect and responsibility. In contrast to consumer-driven marketing tactics prevalent today, my approach is client-driven. To visualize an idea completely through from start to finish requires a level of commitment to the client as well as to the conceptualization of the product itself.
Sean recently submitted a customized Munny to Florida based ÜBERBOT entitled True Head which cracked the top 20 out of a few hundred entries. Images after the jump.

Experimental Skateboard MFG.

Chardon, Ohio based Factory 13 Experimental Skateboard Mfg. is owner Danny Creadon's vehicle to maintain a stance against corporate America.
We operate outside of corporate trends, we will never compromise style for money.
Everything from cereal bowl concaves, 8 wheelers, longboards, single kick pigs, rockers, new street shapes, custom
constructions, custom mold making, silk screening and custom artwork. Dedication to true skateboarders.
A fiercely independant entity, F13 has compiled an overwhelming portfolio of custom work both in quantity and more importantly, quality. Personally I just couldn't get over the variety of decks that Danny and his crew have created. The images we've posted for this article is nothing more than a drop in the ocean for what's come out of that shop.
Absolutely insane.

anywhere anytime

Los Angeles graffiti artist Buff Monster is willing to spread his art anywhere, and I mean anywhere. From buildings to ladies thongs and even the ladies themselves, he's never met a surface he didn't like.
Case in point is his latest run of art applied onto found spray cans with a mixture of acrylic, beads, glitter and buckshot. That's right, buckshot. It's a process that he's been doing for quite some time now that also includes similar applications to found wood and metal. You have to appreciate how he'll turn discarded material into art and breathe new life into something that would normally end up in a landfill.
Good on him.

off and running for 06/07

The newly formed sponsorshipp between EPL giants Chelsea FC and Adidas officially kicked in gear today with the launch of the Blues new home kit.
Previously outfitted by Umbro, the team now embarks on an 8 year partnership with the German manufacturer which will mark the first time the two have worked together. The new home kit will make its official debut when Chelsea plays their first pre-season match against the Major League Soccer All-Stars in Chicago (August 5th).
Apart from the new look, Adidas is also making note about the technical side of the kit....
As always for adidas, technology is at the forefront of the kit design. The shirt incorporates the world-renowned ClimaCool and FlowMapping technologies which allow heat and sweat to escape while bringing cooling air into contact with the skin.
The shirt also features ForMotion technology - a highlight of adidas top performance apparel. The shirt was designed three-dimensionally and engineered to fit a footballer's body in motion and the seams are sewn flat to reduce irritation.
The EPL season officially kicks-off on August 19th.

review of issue 13

For those of you who follow entertainment magazine GIANT on a consistent basis, recently released issue #13 was quite a shot to the gut.
What once catered to the average Joe now seems geared towards those featured on MTV's 'Cribs'. I think the bit about the new Editor-in-Chief co-hosting a tasting of "the oldest and most exquisite cognacs of Hennesy's cellar" drove home the message to the old readers that they're no longer needed. This was now a VIP party that even Puffy would be envious of.
Now for those not familiar with GIANT, it was originally launched as 'The Ultimate Entertainment Magazine' which at times really was not that far off from the truth. It's coverage of everything from video games to cult movies to attainable fashion made you hold onto it like a collectable. The photos were big, bold and eye catching like one would expect from a mag called GIANT. It was just something you looked forward to every other month that helped take your mind off the daily grind and just chill. Though it could be dismissed as 'fluff', it was still ours and we loved it.
Current issue #13 still maintains some of the same content, but the feeling is just not there anymore. I mean do we really need 14 pages dedicated to Beyonce? Even seeing the revamped cover for the first time was enough to make you say 'uh-oh'. Gone was the big, bold title font only to be replaced by a dumbed down, VIBE knock-off. Plus the fact they shrunk the size of the magazine made it somewhat amusing. I mean really, it's called GIANT not 'Little Person'. Overall the entire mag feels like sifting through 160 pages of Calvin Klein ads circa 1992 as opposed to a modern day explosion of information and entertainment.
This review will no doubt remind L+L readers of the question raised about DWELL where we asked if they should continue with their path at that time or maintain their image to appease the original readers. The response was and still is overwhelming, which just shows how passionate readers really can be about their beloved mainstays.
