A letter from Thom Mayne
We debated over whether we should make this letter public or not. It is an unusual letter to "print" on our site, but George Yu is an unusual person.

A few of us here at L+L had the pleasure and honor to have had George as an instructor and, briefly, as a boss. What makes George so special is that, even though he has a fantastic abundance of "starchitect" talent, he remains a super-friendly, kind, down-to-earth guy who helps out, chats over a beer, and plays roller hockey whenever he has time. This combination of talent, success, and humility is very rare in our profession, in any profession, and we would like to salute George for being an absolute class act. Thank you, Thom, for emphasizing this point.

SUG & Ulligus

Unkl is set to debut a new set of Sug colorways and the all new Ulligus at this years San Diego Comic con.

The yellow colorway known as the Urban Recovery Series is limited to 40 pieces each while the red versions (aka Search & Rescue Series) will be at a more attainable run of 250.

SPOT Collection

valerydesignwrks hits the wall

Canadian graphic design studio Valerydesignwrks was recently added to the Spot Collection of decorative mural adhesives by ADzif.

The character driven studio has also announced that twice a month, they will be posting a brand new wallpaper featuring new designs and characters "to help give your desktop a fresh and exciting look".

Completely unnecessary things you'll want

I received an email this morning that screamed a bunch of one-liners at me about what ATYPYK is and is not. Such as:

ATYPYK IS NOT THE BEST TO EXPLAIN ATYPYK

ATYPYK ENJOYS MAKING COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY THINGS

ATYPYK PRODUCTS CONTAINS SMALL PARTS DANGEROUS FOR CHILDREN

ATYPYK MAY CONSIDER ACCEPT MONEY FROM STRANGERS

On and on the list went. And they were right when they said, "NO BIG SURPRISE THAT YOU NEVER HEARD ABOUT US THEN" because I've never heard of them. You probably haven't either. So, whatever. I don't really feel like trying to explain who or what they are but they've got some interesting sh*t on their website (seriously, and it's "lucky" as well) so just click through and check out the site for yourself. And watch where you step.

EcoTech Porcelain Stone Tiles

Interior/Exterior Tile

Continuing the tile theme tonight is the ECOTECH tile from Domus Tiles. The ECOTECH tile is made from recycled porcelain leftovers and is available in four colors. Two finish options are also available (natural and structured).

The ECOTECH is an interior/exterior tile designed for both wall and floor use and is offered in 6 sizes with the largest being 23" x 47".

ModCraft Tiles

Modern Craftworks

ModCraft tiles from New York based designer David Clark are available in 4 styles and remind me of the Tangent 3D wallpaper tiles we featured a few years back. The Peak (featured above), Valley, and Scoop are available in 6x6 while the Dom comes in 3x7. All tiles are made from stoneware.

MTV live performance

A small crowd of lucky fans were treated to a 'secret show' last night by Editors for MTV at LSO St. Lukes.

The performance was broadcast online at MTV Live and will be repeated at 8pm BST every night until Monday 4th June.

The band is leading up to their sophmore release An End Has A Start which is slated for a June 25th release in the UK and July 17th in the States.
